Mat Bankes has had around 100 jobs across more than 40 industries, from sales and property to finance, acting and fashion, and has built and run his own businesses.
For a long time he was also chasing outcomes he hoped would prove he was enough. When they couldn’t hold him up, he went looking for why, and found his own sense of worth tied to results he couldn’t control. Once he saw it in himself, he saw the pattern everywhere.
Nearly two decades of inner work and study of psychology, human development and the human mind followed. What he keeps finding is that the people who struggle most under pressure aren’t short on intelligence or capability. They’re still relying on particular outcomes to be okay.
